Debbie’s Backpacking Gear
Backpacking gear is one thing that I am continually asked about when I tell people I am hiking the Appalachian Trail. Living in the Midwest, hiking is not an every weekend activity for most, so what gear I use and where to buy are the first two questions asked. This of course leads to conversations over individual gear items.
Fred has worked hard to find gear that is lightweight, top quality and will work for us whether we are long distance hiking or out for a day or long weekend. Because everyone’s style and tastes are different Fred and I can only recommend the gear we have first hand experience with.
Fred is a gear junkie, but it’s worth it. First, I don’t have the patience to do the research and secondly, I most always get what I want. Because we’ve been married for 32 years he knows what I will like, so it’s rare that something arrives via Amazon Prime that I won’t use.
Below is a list of most of my pack or a least the gear I get the most questions about. Fred will carry our cooking system and our tent, therefore it is not listed in my pack.
For a complete list of my gear go here, then click on the Debbie tab at the bottom and see everything I will be carrying on my A.T. hike.
Here’s to rocking gear!
